Ten years into its innovative and highly successful PACE initiative, the South Australian Government has cemented the importance of natural resources to the future of the State’s economy by establishing the Department for Manufacturing, Innovation, Trade, Resources and Energy (DMITRE).
DMITRE will continue the work of the Primary Industries and Resources, whose dedicated approach to resources saw South Australia move from forgotten state to a leading jurisdiction in the world of resources. Through initiatives such as its collaborative drilling programme and extensive geosciences databases, South Australia has become the destination of choice for junior explorers, mid-tier producers and major international mining houses, in the process fostering a new generation of resources projects. The project pipeline is now full; from grassroots exploration plays to new developments and extensions to existing mines, including the major expansion to be undertaken at Australia’s biggest mine, Olympic Dam.
Capital markets may be tight but investment in resources projects continues to climb in the State. With this in mind, the 11th annual South Australian Resources and Energy investment Conference is set to provide the most comprehensive showcase of the State’s growing reputation.
